In November of 2018, my good friend, mentor and frequent collaborator Keith Sinzinger passed away unexpectedly.
One of his most recent musical aspirations was to compose an ensemble piece for what he called the "Glockestra" -- an orchestra using eight glockenspiels that he bought at an auction and restored for that purpose. Unfortunately, Keith never had the opportunity to bring his Glockestra to fruition so his wife Kathy invited me to write the piece using the glocks as a tribute to his life and music. I told her that it would be my honor and I assembled a talented group of like minded musicians and performed the piece in January of 2019 at his memorial service at the St Francis Hall in Washington, DC.
As I stated in my eulogy, I have no idea what the Glockestra sounded like in Keith's head but I did my best to do it justice based on all the conversations we had about it. I'd like to think that he would've enjoyed my version and I hope that you enjoy it too. It was a joy to put together and it was a tremendous healing experience for me.
