about

"Lullabies for the Synthetic Sleep" is a collection of ambient adjacent electronic tracks that were heavily inspired by Japanese new-age music from the 1980's (kankyō ongaku) as well as a deep fascination with euclidean rhythms and melodies. This album utilized modular synthesizers, acoustic instrumentation and several free browser based music tools like "The Incredible Musical Spinners From Latent Space" and "Diatonic Dreams" developed by Tero Parviainen. My goal with this record was to create music that could be relaxing to a casual listener but could also be exciting and dynamic for a more active listener. I found I could achieve this by imposing structure on top of a chance based music thereby creating an engaging tension between composition and improvisation.
